Terms of Service

Effective date: February 21, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MedicareNPI website at www.medicarenpi.com (the “Service”), you agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”), our Privacy Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

2. Description of Service

MedicareNPI is a free, publicly accessible healthcare provider directory that aggregates and presents data from official US government sources, including:

  • NPPES NPI Registry (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System)
  • CMS Provider Data Catalog (Medicare enrollment, MIPS quality scores)
  • Hospital Compare / Hospital Quality Ratings
  • DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics & Supplies) supplier data

The Service allows users to search, view, compare, and verify information about healthcare providers, hospitals, and medical equipment suppliers. The Service is provided free of charge and does not require account registration.

3. Not Medical Advice

IMPORTANT MEDICAL DISCLAIMER

The information provided on MedicareNPI is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be, and shall not be construed as, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or a substitute for professional medical consultation.

MedicareNPI does not:

  • Endorse, recommend, or certify any healthcare provider, hospital, or supplier
  • Guarantee the quality of care provided by any listed provider
  • Provide medical opinions or clinical guidance
  • Verify the current licensure or disciplinary status of providers

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking treatment because of information found on this Service. In case of a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.

4. HIPAA Disclaimer

MedicareNPI is not a Covered Entity or Business Associate as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). We do not collect, store, transmit, or process Protected Health Information (PHI) of any individual. All healthcare provider data displayed on the Service is publicly available government data and does not constitute PHI.

The Service is not intended for use in clinical decision-making, insurance claims adjudication, or any regulated healthcare transaction. Users who require HIPAA-compliant NPI verification should use official CMS tools and databases directly.

5. Data Accuracy and Limitations

While we strive to present accurate, complete, and current information, all data on MedicareNPI is sourced from third-party government databases and is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind. We make no representations or guarantees regarding:

  • The accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any displayed information
  • Whether provider information reflects the provider’s current status, address, or credentials
  • The accuracy of quality scores, star ratings, or performance metrics
  • The availability or operational status of listed facilities and suppliers

Provider information — including NPI numbers, addresses, phone numbers, credentials, and enrollment status — may change between data refreshes. Data is typically updated weekly from NPPES and periodically from other CMS sources. Users should independently verify critical information directly with the healthcare provider, through official CMS channels (npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov), or with the relevant state licensing board.

If you discover inaccurate information, please report it to us so we can investigate. However, corrections to the underlying data must be made by the provider through NPPES directly.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable federal, state, local, or international law or regulation
  • Use automated means (bots, crawlers, scrapers, spiders) to harvest, scrape, or systematically download data from the Service without our prior written consent
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on the Service’s infrastructure
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service or its related systems
  • Use the data for unsolicited marketing, spam, telemarketing, or commercial solicitation directed at healthcare providers
  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or republish the data in bulk for commercial purposes without authorization
  • Use the data to build a competing product or service
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with any security-related features of the Service
  • Use the Service in any manner that could harm, disable, overburden, or impair it

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these terms, without prior notice.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service’s design, layout, graphics, user interface, logos, trademarks, original content (including blog articles, guides, and documentation), and proprietary software are the property of MedicareNPI and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws, including copyright and trademark laws.

The underlying healthcare provider data is sourced from US government public domain databases and is not subject to copyright restrictions under 17 U.S.C. § 105. However, our specific compilation, presentation, organization, and enhancement of this data may be protected as a compilation work.

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes, including viewing, searching, and printing individual provider profiles for your own reference. Any commercial use of the Service’s design, functionality, aggregated data, or original content requires our prior written consent.

8. API and Programmatic Access

Any access to the Service through automated means, APIs, or programmatic tools is subject to separate terms and rate limits. Unauthorized automated access may result in temporary or permanent blocking of your IP address or other access restrictions.

Search engine crawlers and AI agents that respect our robots.txt directives are permitted to index the Service in accordance with standard web conventions.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services, including government databases, that are not owned or controlled by MedicareNPI. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, availability, or practices of any third-party websites or services. Inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or completeness. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable
  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected
  • The Service will be free of viruses or other harmful components

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In such cases, the exclusions will apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MedicareNPI, its operators, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including without limitation:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Cost of procurement of substitute goods or services
  • Any healthcare decisions made based on information found on the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on or obtained through the Service
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data
  • Any matter related to the Service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory

In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed One Hundred US Dollars (US $100.00). This limitation of liability applies regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MedicareNPI and its operators, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your access to or use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
  • Any content you submit or transmit through the Service
  • Any claim that your use of the data caused damage to a third party

13. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

Informal Resolution: Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting us at legal@medicarenpi.com. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 60 days of receiving your notice.

Binding Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be settled by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). The arbitration shall be conducted in English, and the arbitrator’s decision shall be final and binding. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against MedicareNPI.

Exceptions: Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. To the extent that arbitration is not applicable, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for the resolution of any disputes.

15. Termination and Suspension

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: intellectual property provisions, warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.

16. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance of our obligations under these Terms resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, acts of government, war, terrorism, pandemics, power outages, internet service interruptions, cyberattacks, or failures of third-party data sources (including CMS or NPPES).

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it shall be severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MedicareNPI regarding the use of the Service. These Terms supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and MedicareNPI regarding the Service.

No waiver of any term of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
